Movie breakdown - Day Shift starring Snoop Dogg

Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco are the stars of the new vampire hunting movie "Day Shift". The story follows a blue collar father who wants to provide a comfortable life for his daughter. However, his job as a pool cleaner in San Fernando Valley is just a façade for his true source of income: hunting and killing vampires for the International Union of Vampire Hunters.

It sounds like a fun idea, but can J.J. Perry bring it to life?

Jamie Foxx is seen shooting at a woman who turns out to have been a vampire in the opening scene of "Day Shift". This then leads to a wild fight between them. The movie's use of rag-doll physics in its action scenes makes them pop in a way other Netflix action movies (or blockbusters) do not. It's hard to not think about the old adage that "action speaks more than words". But, "Day Shift" has a unique ability to employ both dialogue and action to enhance the story and character development. Jamie Foxx's role as the vampire is finally defeated and he engages in a humorous exchange with his partner about how "he thought she was going to transform into a bat" or something. It's moments like this that help to elevate "Day Shift" above other similar movies.

Day Shift, is the movie that makes you feel so bad you're actually enjoying it. It's so obvious what they were trying to do, and yet they failed so miserably. (Day Shift) The acting is poor, the dialogue is stilted and the plot is a mess. However, it was still enjoyable. Perhaps it's because of my love for vampire movies or because I enjoy bad movies. Day Shift was enjoyable. It's not a great flick, but it's fun. And really, that's all I ask from a movie like this.

Day Shift had mixed reviews. There are some great action scenes and fun characters (the brothers and Seth), but the villain is terrible and there are a lot more mediocre characters. However, that makes Day Shift even more enjoyable. It seemed like there were missing scenes that were not cut. Bud's neighbor acts as if they are friends even though she had only 3 minutes of screentime before the final scene. Bud made prank phone calls while working at the gas station, which was probably the best scene in the movie. It was hilarious and I enjoyed watching it. The movie's rest was not as enjoyable. Day Shift is, in general, a mixed bag. Some parts are great, and some parts are terrible. But if you're looking for a few laughs, you could do worse than this movie.

Snoop Dogg almost got lost in my thoughts. He's fantastic in Day Shift. It's worth the entire movie to watch him. His character is funny and he has great lines. But more than that, he's just so natural in the role. It's as if he was made for the role.
